About the client
Spreckley PR is a long-established public relations agency based in London, specialising in
B2B technology, professional services and corporate communications. With a reputation for
delivering high-impact campaigns for clients globally, Spreckley operates in a highly
collaborative environment. The business itself has grown over 50% in the past five years,
adding a strain to its existing on-prem infrastructure, which was compounded as the hybrid
working model became embedded post pandemic.
Spreckley was faced with an additional challenge – it’s on-prem server was heading towards
end-of-support and its existing IT infrastructure was causing a serious productivity
headache. While the two-days in and a three-days remote working policy was popular with
employees, what was less so, was the dependence on a VPN to enable access to the
company server. This, combined with a desire to ensure all data was safely at all times and
in locations, meant the organisation had to look for a comprehensive upgrade solution.
At the heart of the upgrade was to ensure Spreckley had fast and secure access to large
volumes of shared content including media assets, press materials and confidential client
information.
Objectives
From a business continuity perspective, Spreckley PR needed to modernise its IT infrastructure and move away from its legacy on-prem server, deliver a Cloud-based solution and one that eradicated the over-reliance on VPN systems.
Its key objectives included:
- Improving collaboration and productivity for staff working from anywhere
- Eliminating delays and frustrations caused by slow VPN connections
- Enhancing data security and resilience through a cloud-first model
- Future-proofing operations with scalable infrastructure that can grow with the business
- Completing the transition with zero disruption to client services
Challenge
The previous VPN-based setup caused frequent connection dropouts and slow file access,
particularly when handling large documents and multimedia files. Collaboration was
impacted, with sync issues and multiple file versions creating confusion.
Remote work highlighted the limitations of the VPN, as employees found it increasingly
difficult to stay productive. The aging on-prem server also posed a risk of downtime, which
the agency could not afford in a deadline-driven environment. Spreckley needed a seamless
transition to a modern system without risking downtime or data loss.
The Espria solution
Espria recommended migrating to AWS cloud storage using LucidLink, to provideing a
modern cloud-native file system accessible without a VPN. After a detailed assessment,
Espria executed the cutover in May 2025 with zero downtime. Critical data was securely
migrated, and the staff gained real-time streaming access to files through LucidLink,
significantly improving speed and reliability. Espria managed onboarding and training to
ensure smooth adoption and now delivers ongoing support, ensuring security, scalability and
optimal performance. The new system has transformed Spreckley’s operational efficiency,
